• 3 Ways COVID Is Hurting CBD Sales

    Blog post 10.jpg

A new report found that price was the second biggest factor for consumers when making CBD purchase decisions. The passage of the 2018 Farm Bill legalizing hemp sparked a CBD rush with millions in sales and seemingly everyone starting a company using some form of hemp-derived cannabis oil.  Last year’s BDSA and Arcview Market Research, industry report estimated that CBD sales in the U.S. would surpass $20 billion by 2024. New York-based investment bank Cowen & Co forecast that the market would hit $15 billion by 2025. A new report from the Brightfield Group, “US CBD Market July 2020“, warns those numbers will be much lower as a…

  • $6 Million Worth Of Cannabis Seized At New York-Canada Border

    Author: James M | | Categories: Cannabis

    Blog post 9.jpg

A 45-year-old Canadian man got busted at the border last week hauling millions of dollars worth of marijuana. The U.S. Customs and Border Protection nabbed the suspect last Wednesday on Peace Bridge, a crossing that connects Buffalo, New York to Fort Erie, Ontario. The man was driving a commercial tractor trailer, and he informed the officers that he was delivering a shipment containing articles of cement.  After Customs and Border officers referred the vehicle for further inspection, they discovered a dozen wooden pallets containing a number of vacuum sealed packages of pot. The total amount of cargo: 1,342 kilograms—or about 2,959 pounds, for those…

  • How technology connects cannabis growers & drives innovation

    Blog post 8.png

n an industry where the only constant is change, growers are looking to improve current processes and even set new goals. Valuable employees remain on the frontlines of cultivation facilities every day, but it often makes the most sense to entrust computers, sensors and smartphones to complete certain tasks, like the daily collecting and correlating of millions of data points, such as room temperature, relative humidity, and nutrient and water uptake. Plus, data collection typically isn’t your or your employees’ primary skillset. Even so, each variable in a cultivation operation generates volumes of data that could take days, even weeks, for…

  • How Smoking Pot Can Turn You Into A Snobby Cinephile

    Author: James M | | Categories: Cannabis

    Blog psot 7.jpg

Like most smokers, I love watching stuff while I’m high. There’s something about using the drug that turns whatever happens on a screen—whether that’s some guy cleaning out their aquarium, crushing bowling balls with a hydraulic press or soliloquizing about ancient Japanese woodblock printmaking—into the most unbelievably, irresistibly captivating thing I’ve ever laid my eyes on.  And that counts double for movies which, unlike random YouTube videos, are constructed in such a way to maintain our attention and interest with laser-focused precision. Of course, everyone prefers a different genre or style depending on their taste. But aren’t there any specific movies whose craft we come to appreciate…

Province to take $180M hit on ending pot delivery, pickup: Ontario Chamber of Commerce. Ontario is primed to take a steep economic hit after deciding to stop allowing privately-run cannabis stores to provide delivery and curbside pickup services to customers. The services, which end on July 29, will cause the province to miss out on about $180 million in economic activity, according to the Ontario Chamber of Commerce. That figure balloons to nearly $1 billion in losses if the additional 450 stores which are ready to open, but whose licence applications are pending approval are factored in. One retailer expects customers…

  • Clint Eastwood Sues CBD Companies For Allegedly Stealing His Name To Sell Products

    Author: James M |

While the vast majority of CBD companies pride themselves in adopting an element of integrity when marketing products, a handful of companies are doing the exact opposite: using the likenesses of celebrities without their permission to increase profit margins.  On July 22, Eastwood filed two lawsuits in federal court in Los Angeles, California after a slew of CBD companies allegedly marketed products using his name and/or image without his permission. Eastwood, 90, is sick and tired of seeing his name and image on articles, marketing materials, and products, when he has absolutely nothing to do with any CBD companies. “You’ve got to ask yourself one…

  • Study Proves Cannabis Is A Safe Treatment As Opioid Alternative

    Author: James M | | Categories: Cannabis

    Plog Post 4.jpg

The recent study was conducted at the St Vincent’s Hospital in Melbourne, Australia, and the Emerald Clinics (EMD) in Perth, suggests cannabis is a safe option for patients to integrate into their current pain treatment. That includes patients who already consume high doses of opioids. The company administered its ZTL-103, a 1:1 THC/CBD formulation to chronic pain (non-cancer) patients who used at least 60 milligrams of morphine or similar opioids daily. After a two-week dosing period, patients reported reduced levels of pain, stress, depression and anxiety, while experiencing no serious side effects. “This study not only reinforces that cannabis can be safely administered in increasing…

  • This interim solution to the Health Canada-rejected Trailer Park Buds packaging is actually quite on-brand

    Author: James M | | Categories: Cannabis

    trailer-park-buds.jpg

The company behind the embattled Trailer Park Buds brand, which was rejected by Health Canada for being non-compliant with the Cannabis Act, decided against repackaging the discount nugs originally planned to be promoted by east coast celebs the Trailer Park Boys. Instead, in what many would call a very on-brand move, they simply redacted the “Trailer Park” part on the outside of the package — possibly with a black Sharpie — so it simply reads “Buds.” Wes Breault and Bill Evans, the owners of The GreenEasy cannabis shop in Strathmore, Alta., took to Twitter on July 20 to show off the revised logo. The redaction came as…

  • Study Suggests More Chronic Pain Patients Are Turning To Cannabis

    Author: James M | | Categories: Cannabis

    Blog post 1.jpg

New data from the journal of Advances in Therapy shows that more people now than in the past are using cannabis to treat and cope with chronic pain—and that those who are using it as treatment report favorable results.  The study, which came from Harvard Medical School, looked at cannabis use trends in pain patients starting in 2011 and ending in 2015. Currently, chronic pain is the most commonly reported qualifying condition by medical cannabis patients who report data back to their state medical programs regarding why and how they consume cannabis.  “This overall increase is not surprising given that several studies have shown cannabis to…
